Parshas VaYechi

Each year when we reach this portion I am struck how the book of B'reishis starts with the big bang of creation and ends with a grandfather (Yosef) dandling his grandsons on his knee. This progression illustrates the brilliant insight of Judaism that Elokim, the creator of the universe, is Ha'Shem, the merciful G-d whose Shechina dwells among us. We affirm this twice each day when we say..."Ha'Shem Elokeinu, Ha'Shem echad".
